President Joe Biden’s job approval ratings have been submerged, as he has been criticized for his administration’s handling of the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan and while the cases of Covid-19 extend throughout the country. An NBC News poll released Sunday shows that 49% of all adults surveyed say they strongly approve of Biden’s work as president, while 48% disapprove. 49% represents a four percentage point drop compared to a previous NBC News poll in April. The number of rejections has increased by nine percentage points compared to the same previous survey.

Among registered voters surveyed, 50% said they approved of Biden’s job performance, while 48% said they disapproved. The NBC News survey shows that 1,000 adults were interviewed and the survey has a margin of error of about 3.10%. The survey took place from 14 to 17 August.

The vast majority of respondents say they disapprove of Biden’s treatment of the current situation in Afghanistan, with only 25% approving of the way he has handled the crisis. Biden has been scrutinized for the way he has managed his administration in an attempt to evacuate allies in Afghanistan as U.S. troops leave the country and the Taliban regain control of the government.
